Annual ESD Gala 2010

BMO AND LEARNING FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE HOST THE 9TH ANNUAL STATE OF EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT SYMPOSIUM

On Tuesday, May 18th, 2010, BMO Financial Group hosted Learning for a Sustainable Future’s 9th Annual State of Education for Sustainable Development Symposium and Dinner at First Canadian Place. Business and community leaders joined together to learn how Canada is responding to the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, and the role Learning for a Sustainable Future (LSF) is playing in leading this important work in Canada.

DAVID BELL, Chair of LSF spoke about the need for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) to be used to create a greener, more sustainable, Canada, using LSF programs and projects to illustrate how it can be done! View David's presentation on LSF and ESD.

JOVANA, a co-op student from Stephen Lewis Secondary School, shared with participants the skills and knowledge she has acquired while undertaking activities with LSF during her semester placement.

JENNIFER MCKEOWN, and three students from St. Leo Catholic School in Brooklin Ontario, shared their experiences about creating an Eco Team, after attending the EcoLeague Forum in October 2009. Speaking is ISSI, and behind her ALANA (left) and MADDY (right).

GERRY CONNELLY, Former Director of Education for Toronto District School Board, spoke about the need for ESD, and to create responsible citizens.
